The “at-home LLLT” in temporo-mandibular disorders pain control: a pilot study

A systematic review with meta-analysis of the effect of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) in cancer therapy-induced oral mucositis
This research surveyed a series of studies which examined the efficacy of soft laser in the prevention and treatment of Mucositis (ulcerations in the mouth). The resulting findings showed that the soft laser was consistently effective in preventing development of ulcers in the mouth cavity. In addition, the studies show that the soft laser reduces the level of pain and the severity of the ulcers, while also reducing healing time of the symptoms in patients suffering from Mucositis.

Damage to the mandibular nerve is one of the severe complications that can be caused by extraction of a wisdom tooth. This study found that soft laser treatment reduced the symptoms of the neurological damage and accelerated recovery from it.
